Every girl dreams about that perfect day every year – you got it right – a birthday! Well, at least I do. It’s funny somewhere in my child hood I grew to dread my birthdays and just wanted the day to go by faster and be done with.
However somewhere in my late teens to early adult years I changed how I looked at my birthdays. I chose to celebrate them as a milestone of how far I have grown and changed as person. I use my birthdays to also be grateful for everything I have and everything I am.
Enough of the sappy stuff – let’s move on to the best part – birthdays are a perfect excuse to spoil yourself and have others spoil you. After all you are the birthday girl right?
This year I chose to celebrate my 26th birthday in Destin, Florida. I knew that I did want to take a birthday trip somewhere sunny and beachy and Destin was exactly that.
I figure I’d choose somewhere close by, so my girls (sisters and friends could come along and celebrate with me).
The first part of my birthday weekend trip included dressing up and having a nice dinner on my actual birthday. So after checking into our condo, we girls got all glammed up and headed to Mimmo’s for our dinner reservation.
Birthday girl ready to go:

I chose Mimmo’s for my dinner because it is described as a “fresh spot in Destin serving authentic italian dishes bursting with flavor and color – the perfect atmosphere for family celebrations”. The perfect setting my fancy birthday dinner with my girls.
I chose something light and flavorful – the Penne Alla Caprese dish. I loved the taste of the fresh basil and fluffy mozzarella cheese against the tangy bite of the wine sauce.
Since it was my birthday I just had to have a drink – I chose to celebrate with a Peach Bellini. Can you believe I’ve never had a bellini before? But it was delicious and I wasn’t disappointed!
Towards the end of the dinner, our waitress brought me out a special treat.
I would truly say my birthday dinner was everything I wanted it to be. Mimmo’s was a great place to go – I loved the atmosphere. And the food was good. Be sure to to check out Mimmo’s for dinner or to celebrate your own special occasion.
After dinner, we headed back to the condo so we could cut my cake and I could open up my presents.
For my 26th birthday I chose to go with a red velvet cake with a wine spill design. I think it turned out great.
I also took a photo shoot to mark this day – because who wouldn’t?
Overall I think it was a great way to celebrate my 26th and I was one happy birthday girl.
The birthday adventures continue….stay tuned for part 2!
