Out and About: Tybee Island, GA

Picking up from my last post about Savannah – our adventure continues the next day.

After another relaxed morning, we felt we were ready to do more exploring of this area – specifically Tybee Island.  Tybee Island is about a 20-30 minute drive from Savannah and boasts about attractions such as the Pier, a Lighthouse and of course the Beach.

We arrived on Tybee Island late  afternoon and wondered if I were going to find any parking. Luckily we found a spot just as we arrived and the car before was kind enough to give us their ticket that still had some parking time on it.

After we got settled we got to stroll along and on the Pier.  It was still nice and warm outside with plenty of time to sit on the beach.  But instead I enjoyed strolling on the Pier….

while taking time to enjoy the view and do some reflection…

After that it was time for some beach time! It was nice to just sit on the sand and watch everyone else have fun playing in the water.

After we were done, we decided to explorer more of the Pier  and the streets to look for some Souvenir T-Shirts and Stuff.  We found a store that had the coolest T-Shirts and got some  to remind us of our visit to Tybee.

On our way back to the car we found a place that sold Ice-Cream – there is nothing like a soft serve ice cream on a warm day near the beach 🙂

After eating our ice cream and watching the sun set we headed back to our hotel in Savannah.

Still sore from all the walking around – we decided to spend time in the hot tub and soak away any aches. It was also nice to just relax on the roof top of the hotel and listen to sounds from Savannah city market drift up towards us.

We were hungry again and decided to go in search of food.  We ended up back at Wet Willies because I just loved their frozen drinks. I mean really – it’s one of the best inventions ever.

This time we decided to sample a couple of the drinks….

Before we wound up making our selections. I chose to go with  “Attitude Improvement”  – their strongest drink (Made with Orange, Grain Alcohol and Bacardi Rum) and mixed with Mango.

My sister went with the Sour Apple drink.

And for dinner – we choose Wings (Yep they were just that dang good)and fries again. This time I chose the Chipotle BBQ Wings.

Seriously if you ever have the chance to visit a Wet Willies do so – you won’t regret it.

I had an amazing time in Savannah and I definitely will be back sometime soon.

Till the next post
