5 Simple Yoga Poses to Try Now

I remember when I first fell in love with yoga – I was in college and looking for way to de-stress myself. Yoga did the trick! Yoga became a source of calmness and balance in my life. It also helped me become flexible and begin to challenge myself in different ways so I could try new poses.

Through Yoga – I took on the practice of deep breathing and meditation. Two things I truly rely on in my life. I want share with you 5 simple yoga poses to try today and that will help stay flexible and focused?

Ready? Break out in some comfy clothes or yoga pants if you some, and take out a mat and lets begin.

Warrior One:

Stand facing the top of your mat. Step your right foot forward and lean into a high lunge, pivot on the back of your foot.  Once you’ve found your balance, go deeper into the lunge and spread one arm in front of you and one behind you.  Be sure to keep your torso upwards and relaxed. Take a few deep breaths and hold this pose for at least 30 seconds.

Triangle Pose:

From the warrior pose you can go straight into the triangle pose. Keep your legs in the same position. Stretch your arms in front and behind of yours as far as you can go and then lean downwards. Place one arm straight towards your yoga mat while your other arms lifts towards the sky.

If this is too uncomfortable for you, place the arm that is downwards on your thigh for support instead.

Downward Facing Dog:

To do the downward facing dog, stand facing the top of your mat. Lean forward till your hands are both on the mat. Begin to stretch and move your hands towards the top of your mat as far as you can go, till your body forms a triangle.  To get even more of a stretch, step your both of your feet backwards, suck in your tummy and push your hips towards the sky.

Child’s Pose:

To end this practice or stretching exercise. Start on all fours and then sit back on your knees. Once you are on your knees,  lean your arms towards the top of your mat and lower your head and upper body towards the mat.  This is one of my favorite poses and truly helps me relax.
